Section Leadership Summit 2022

I am very excited to invite you to this year’s Section E5 Leadership Summit. The Uh-To-Yeh-Hut-Tee Lodge and Section E5 Leadership are planning an exciting, beneficial, and fun event for Arrowmen of all experience levels.

At this year’s Section Leadership Summit, Arrowmen from across our Section will gather in beautiful Lake Wales to come together in fellowship, develop our leadership abilities, and prepare our chapters and lodges for years of success. This year’s SLS will offer an ACT Conference, Polestar Induction Leadership Training, as well as OA Training and AIA Training to ensure that everyone will be able to learn something new and gain new skills.

However, SLS is not just about training – it is also about fun and fellowship! On Friday night, SLS attendees will meet new friends, reconnect with old friends, and have a blast at our Glow Party, with glow-in-the-dark Basketball, Cornhole, and more! On Saturday Afternoon, we will host the first ever SLS Rendezvous, where Arrowmen will have the chance to participate in several Mountain Man activities including Archery and Log Crossing.

We are so excited for you to join us for SLS at Flaming Arrow Scout Reservation on the weekend of November 4th-6th.

Section Leadership Summit 2021

Dear Brothers,
When Dr. E. Urner Goodman and Col. Carroll A Edson founded the Order of the Arrow over 100 years ago, the principles of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service were at the forefront of their mission. Often referred to as the Wimachtendienk or the Brotherhood, our order has achieved many remarkable things, served countless people, and impacted the lives of millions of scouts.

At the 2021 Section Leadership Summit, Arrowman from across the Section will come together to discover how “The spark is there, already glowing, fan it now, forgetting hunger, feed it, till it is a fire.” These lodge and chapter leaders will experience the true meaning of Brotherhood and learn why the most crucial element to our program is the great bonds we all share. While our order serves many purposes, we are, at the core, a brotherhood.

The message that will be conveyed is particularly important in our society, where the feeling of brotherhood and fellowship has never been more needed. By the end of the weekend, these key leaders will explore how to apply these fundamental ideas to achieve the things most needed in the Order of the Arrow: unit elections, inductions, and activation.

As the Host Lodge, our goal is to make this the most unique and memorable Section Leadership Summit to date. One of the most important aspects to having a successful event is creating an exciting atmosphere.

With your sparks united, our flame cannot be put out. Join together on November 5th-7th at Camp Elmore, Davie, FL. Register today at tinyurl.com/SLSregister.

NLS/DYLC

The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend conference focusing on the skills and characteristics of leadership and it is coming to our Section, September 24-26th in Orlando, Florida. NLS also seeks to extend the training covered at the local lodge (LLD) level and create a uniform education on leadership and service for all attendees. It is primarily intended to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow’s key youth and adult members, as they seek to further their service to the Boy Scouts of America and their greater community.

Lodge officers, key youth lodge committee chairs, and up-and-coming lodge youth leadership are heavily encouraged to attend. It is recommended that youth participants be at least 14 years of age, and completion of the LLD program is recommended, but this is not mandatory. In addition, selected adults with key roles in lodge leadership are encouraged to attend, as they will better understand their role as advisers to youth leadership after studying the leadership skills presented.

This is an incredible opportunity that will benefit everyone. NLS changes how Arrowmen think about leadership and opens up new ideas and possibilities! Not
only will attendees learn a lot, but they have so much fun in the process. It is a leadership development experience like no other. If you’re interested in attending NLS, talk to your local lodge leadership for more information.

“Developing Youth Leadership Conference – DYLC – is the counterpart to the Order of the Arrow’s National Leadership Seminar – exclusively for advisers! Join Scouters from around the Southern Region September 24-26 at Drury Inn and Suites Orlando for a weekend of deep dives into topics immediately relevant to your role in helping young people learn and grow.

You’ll be seated at tables with advisers from different areas and roles from your own. Learn what helps drive engagement in a mentor-mentee relationship, how to empower conflict resolution with your lodge and chapter leaders, identify approaches to relevant problems in chapters and lodges, and much more. Throughout the weekend, you’ll be paired with a seasoned OA adviser to help guide your table through each session and activity.

Whether you’re a new OA adviser or a long-term volunteer, DYLC will give you more tools and resources to empower our young people in 2021 and beyond, while challenging you to be the best adviser, mentor, coach, and friend you can be.

Learn more and register by September 10th at National Leadership Seminar – Order of the Arrow – Southern Region (oa-bsa.org)!
