NLS/DYLC

The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a weekend conference focusing on the skills and characteristics of leadership and it is coming to our Section, September 24-26th in Orlando, Florida. NLS also seeks to extend the training covered at the local lodge (LLD) level and create a uniform education on leadership and service for all attendees. It is primarily intended to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow’s key youth and adult members, as they seek to further their service to the Boy Scouts of America and their greater community.

Lodge officers, key youth lodge committee chairs, and up-and-coming lodge youth leadership are heavily encouraged to attend. It is recommended that youth participants be at least 14 years of age, and completion of the LLD program is recommended, but this is not mandatory. In addition, selected adults with key roles in lodge leadership are encouraged to attend, as they will better understand their role as advisers to youth leadership after studying the leadership skills presented.

This is an incredible opportunity that will benefit everyone. NLS changes how Arrowmen think about leadership and opens up new ideas and possibilities! Not
only will attendees learn a lot, but they have so much fun in the process. It is a leadership development experience like no other. If you’re interested in attending NLS, talk to your local lodge leadership for more information.

“Developing Youth Leadership Conference – DYLC – is the counterpart to the Order of the Arrow’s National Leadership Seminar – exclusively for advisers! Join Scouters from around the Southern Region September 24-26 at Drury Inn and Suites Orlando for a weekend of deep dives into topics immediately relevant to your role in helping young people learn and grow.

You’ll be seated at tables with advisers from different areas and roles from your own. Learn what helps drive engagement in a mentor-mentee relationship, how to empower conflict resolution with your lodge and chapter leaders, identify approaches to relevant problems in chapters and lodges, and much more. Throughout the weekend, you’ll be paired with a seasoned OA adviser to help guide your table through each session and activity.
